Platform Overview

Ocean Atlas is a working Unity maritime simulation prototype moving toward a persistent geospatial world platform for offshore wind operations, maritime training, planning, infrastructure protection, and simulation-driven review.

What Ocean Atlas is

Ocean Atlas is being developed as a persistent maritime simulation environment where vessels, offshore infrastructure, environmental conditions, geospatial data, and operational scenarios can be brought together inside one explorable system.

The current prototype is not a finished commercial product. It is a technical concept demonstrator showing the direction, architecture, and early capabilities of the platform.

Current focus

Offshore wind operations

Substations, turbines, service scenarios, weather context, vessel interaction, and future operational training workflows.

Persistent geospatial world

SQLite-backed world data, local Unity projection bubbles, database-driven object spawning, and reusable world records.

Maritime simulation

Vessels, sea state, weather, time of day, AIS direction, mission scenarios, and environmental systems.

Core architecture

Ocean Atlas follows a simple doctrine:

Database truth โ†’ local Unity projection โ†’ simulated interaction โ†’ persistent state update.

This means the world can be treated as geospatial data first, while Unity becomes the active operational bubble where nearby objects, vessels, infrastructure, and scenarios are visualized and simulated.

Why it matters

Offshore and maritime operations are shaped by geography, weather, infrastructure, timing, vessel behaviour, and human decision-making. Ocean Atlas aims to make those relationships visible, explorable, and trainable.

The platform direction is especially relevant for offshore wind operations, maritime training, North Sea infrastructure awareness, mission rehearsal, planning support, and simulation-driven communication.
